Admission Requirements

  1. A minimum of 45 transferrable units (78 unit maximum)

  2. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

  3. Completion of one prerequisite with a grade of C or higher: 

    1. General Psychology* (3 units), or
    2. Introduction to Psychology* (3 units)

*May be completed the first semester at NDNU either at NDNU or other accredited institutions

Required application materials: A complete application is the online NDNU application, official transcripts from every school or university attended including high school unless an associate’s degree has been conferred.

Additional information:

  • Transfer in a minimum of 45 units, maximum of 78 units (you will be graduating with 120 undergraduate units total)
  • Enroll concurrently while finishing up other general education requirements as needed 
  • Take graduate level NDNU courses at the price of undergraduate courses

This program requires 42 units to complete. Sample courses:

Psychobiology

Studies the brain and its functions as they relate to behavior. This course explores topics such as learning and memory, the rhythms of the brain, emotions, and the senses. Some disorders such as epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s Chorea, and memory defects are reviewed.

Personality Theory

Surveys classic and modern theories of personality development in their biographical and historical context, e.g. Sigmund and Anna Freud, Carl Jung, Alfred Adler, Karen Horney, Margaret Mahler, Melanie Klein, D.W. Winnicott, Heinz Kohut, Abraham Maslow, and Rollo May.

Professional Ethics & Career Development

This course will launch students into their professional post-graduate lives with an already-established connection with an organization of their choosing, a practiced and keen sense of ethical fortitude in the psychological field, and an established graduation plan and e-Portfolio, which includes a professional resume and cover letter template.  

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs):  

Students completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology will be able to:

Describe and apply major psychological concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends of psychological science.

Apply basic psychology research methods in research design, review of professional literature, statistical data analysis, incorporation of sociocultural context and ethical standards of research. 

III 

Communicate effectively through relevant modes of writing, presentations, and proficient use of technology. 

IV 

Practice interpersonal and intercultural awareness, respect for diverse perspectives, collaboration, and community engagement.  

V 

Demonstrate personal and professional development in preparation for post-graduate career goal(s).  

Frequently Asked Questions​

Courses are offered fully online and asynchronously. There are opportunities for synchronous meetings with faculty and peers.

Courses are formatted in 8-week terms, 2 courses per term, 2 terms per semester.

Students can navigate their program at the rate which works for them. 

Our fully online asynchronous program offers each course at $412 per unit.

One of the main goals of this program is to propel its students into successful post-graduate life. Throughout this program, students will have:  

a) ... a Professional Ethics and Career Development course specially designed for psychology students to understand the psychological field, specialized career paths, direct contact with current working professionals, culminating in an eportfolio and a robust LinkedIn profile to support their future application processes, 

b) … a Community Engagement course requiring students to complete 15 hours of in-the-field work at a community organization of the student’s choosing,

c) … access to up to 12 units of graduate level Clinical Psychology courses at the price of undergraduate courses, which are directly transferable to a graduate degree if that is the path the student chooses, and 

 d) ... networking opportunities with faculty who practice in the psychological field as well as professional events and panels offered through the Clinical Psychology Degree here at NDNU.

State Authorization for Online Programs

The Department of Education requires that institutions offering online or distance learning programs outside of their home states must seek authorization to operate from regulatory bodies in those states. Each state has a different set of requirements when it comes to allowing out-of-state colleges and universities to offer online degree programs to its residents.
