Beth Martin, PhD

Dr. Beth Martin began her academic leadership career at NDNU as a faculty member and Program Director for the Counseling Psychology program. She went on to become the founding Dean of the School of Sciences (2001–2006), where she led the development of five new academic programs and secured grant and foundation funding for key initiatives. A champion of innovation, she was among the first faculty to launch NDNU’s fully online courses and played a pivotal role in advancing technology adoption across the university. Dr. Martin returned to NDNU in 2021 as President, bringing over two decades of leadership experience in higher education. From 2006 to 2018, she served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and later Provost at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA, where she expanded academic offerings, enhanced student support services, and contributed to university advancement efforts. She then served as Interim Provost and Senior Vice President at Gonzaga University, where she led a restructuring of the Provost’s office to integrate academic affairs, student affairs, and enrollment management. Since 2019, she has also worked as a Senior Consultant with Academic Search, Inc., advising institutions on executive hiring and leadership strategy. Dr. Martin holds an AB in Psychology from Brown University and both an MA and PhD in Physiological and Developmental Psychology from Stanford University. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of California.
